Engineering Competition

Thanks for making the 2013 competition a HUGE success. Check back soon for details on the 2014 competition!

The University of Mississippi Engineering Competition is an exciting and valuable one-day event for high school students (9th – 12th graders) that culminates the observance and activities of National Engineers Week each year in February. Co-sponsored by the School of Engineering, the Division of Outreach & Continuing Education, and the Center for Mathematics and Science Education, the event brings more than 150 high school students from across Mississippi, Tennessee, and Alabama for a full day of interacting with engineering students; taking math, science, and engineering tests; and participating in a water tower design competition.

The tournament will consist of a morning team test and team project followed, by an afternoon team water tower design competition. The water tower portion requires team members to construct a water tower prior to the competition.

Specifications for the water tower can be found here.

Scholarships, trophies and distinguished recognition awards will be presented to teams and individuals who represent or win various categories. Teams can have up to four members.  The registration fee for each team is $30 and it is payable at registration by check or cash.
