The Center for Mathematics and Science Education (CMSE) is excited to host the inaugural STEM competition on February 21. The STEM Competition (formally Engineering Competition) is an exciting and valuable one-day event for high school students (9th-12th graders). In 2013 the event brought more than 150 high school students from across Mississippi, Arkansas, and Tennessee for a full day of interactive competitions.
The STEM Competition will consist of one known challenge and various unknown challenges. The known challenge requires the team to construct the assigned project prior to competition and bring their project to the competition for further evaluation.
Team Competition rules and specifications can be found here.
On the day of the competition, the teams will compete in a variety of STEM related challenges. Each challenge will have a team champion, and the scores from all of the challenges will be combined to crown the STEM Competition Champion!
Scholarships, trophies and distinguished recognition awards will be presented to teams and individuals who win or represent various categories. Teams will consist of at least two (2) but no more than four (4) team members. Schools may have multiple teams. Registration fee for each team is $50 and is due no later than January 31, 2014.
