Professional Development

Professional Development

CMSE provides high-quality, research-based professional development aimed at deepening teachers’ mathematics content knowledge. Teachers will engage in thought-provoking tasks that can be used directly with students to help both teachers and students understand the mathematics being taught. The focus of these sessions is on building a conceptual understanding of the content as outlined by the Common Core State Standards.

CMSE provides training to help teachers learn how to engage students in the Standards of Mathematical Practice as described in the Common Core State Standards. Teachers will learn to engage students in problem solving, various forms of communication, making connections among mathematical topics and real-world phenomena, representing mathematical ideas, and reasoning about the mathematics. Also, teachers will learn what it means to be “mathematically proficient” based on current research.

School/District In-House Professional Development

The CMSE is committed to assisting schools and districts to meet their goals for improving instruction and student achievement. Professional development facilitators are available to plan and present sessions designed to meet the specific needs of your school or district.
