2019 CMSE Science Teacher Residential Institute
Be part of our first Science Teacher Residential Institute! Making Sense of SCIENCE (MSS) courses provide teachers with the opportunity to make sense of complex science ideas as adults with an eye towards classroom implementation. This summer, the CMSE will host an MSS workshop series to support teachers transitioning to the new Mississippi College- and Career-Readiness Standards for Science. Across the 5 days, participants will experience multidimensional science education, crosscutting concepts, and science and engineering practices, as well as engaging in activities that focus on the 2018 Mississippi College- and Career- Readiness Standards for Science. Participants will also be eligible to apply for 3.0 CEUs upon completion.

Location: Jackson Avenue Center, Oxford, MS
Registration: $500 per participant; includes materials, 3.0 CEUs, and lunch for all five days

Dr. Brooke Whitworth serves as an Assistant Professor of Science Education at the University of Mississippi. Before coming to the university, she worked as an Assistant Professor at Northern Arizona University (NAU) in Flagstaff, AZ, as a chemistry and physics teacher at the University of North Carolina School for the Arts (UNSCA) in Winston-Salem, NC, and taught three years of chemistry, physics, and math at Punahau School in Honolulu, HI.
