Middle Math Institute: Expressions, Equations, & Functions
In the middle grades, students learn to generalize their prior experiences with computation and develop more abstract mathematical thinking. Expressions, equations, and functions are tools that can be used to describe real-world situations mathematically. Introducing these ideas in concrete ways will provide meaningful learning experiences that can connect to their existing knowledge.
This course is one of four courses in the CMSE Middle Math Institute. Educators who complete all four courses will be eligible to receive a Middle Level Mathematics (901) Supplemental Endorsement.
The online course is composed of the following activities and requirements:
Weekly Virtual Class Meetings
Weekly Independent Assignments
Participants should expect to spend approximately 3 hours each week participating in the course discussions and completing assignments.
